Who Decides What Food We Eat?

Who Decides What Food We Eat? is a national research project exploring how everyday food choices are shaped by marketing, policy, pricing, access and the broader food environment. It aims to build a clearer understanding of the forces influencing what Australians buy, cook and consume – and how these insights can guide healthier, fairer and more sustainable food systems.

The project invites participation from organisations and industry stakeholders who engage with food production, manufacturing, retail, nutrition, education or community wellbeing. For FAN members, this is an opportunity to contribute practical, regionally grounded perspectives on how producers and agrifood businesses are impacted by – and can help influence – the national conversation on food system transformation.

Insights gathered will help inform future policy recommendations, public resources and sector-wide decision-making tools. Participation may involve surveys, interviews or facilitated workshops, depending on your role and interest.
