The 28 days of February have been pretty epic for team FAN – with the launch of our Domestic Market Pathway Program, the kick-off of our monthly member meet ups, and of course a whole heap of activity in the lead up to Meet the Makers.

Meet the Makers 2021

With the support of great partners, it’s amazing what you can achieve. In just 2 weeks on Monday 15 March, 80 FAN members will be showcasing their food & beverage products and fresh produce to over 500 industry buyers, stakeholders, supporters and passionate foodies.

The event tells the story of the unique, collaborative ecosystem, that FAN fosters in the regions it operates, where industry and stakeholders work together to accelerate the growth of the local food & agribusiness industry.

Boosting Apprenticeships and Traineeships

The Australian Government’s $1.2 billion Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements wage subsidy will support businesses and Group Training Organisations to take on new apprentices and trainees, offering a subsidy of 50% of wages. READ MORE
 
To support Queenslanders in the wake of COVID-19, TAFE Queensland is providing recognition of prior learning (RPL) at no cost to turn skills and experience into a recognised qualification that  will help people to maintain current employment or find new employment. A range of industry areas are eligible including agriculture, tourism and business. READ MORE.

Small Business Roadshow

Queensland Government Minister for Employment and Small Business and Minister for Training and Skills Development, Di Farmer is leading the Small Business Roadshow across Queensland to hear from small business and discuss initiatives such as:
– The rollout of the Queensland Government’s $140 million Big Plans for Small Business package 
– QLD’s economic recovery from COVID-19
– a new Queensland small business strategy

FIAL Transformational Course

FIAL is running a leadership development program designed to awaken you to who you really are; to connect you to your essence; and provide you with a suite of tools, techniques and questions to upgrade your personal operating system. By doing so, it will assist you with your journey to enhance the effectiveness of your leadership style. READ MORE.

TIQ Go Global Program

This program will assist Export Ready companies that have an impending export order, to resolve a related issue or requirement to enable the deal to be successfully concluded. The guidelines outline the types of expenditure and eligibility requirements with funding up to $25,000 on a $ for $ basis. Applications close 1pm on Friday 19 March. READ MORE.

White's IGA State Retail Excellence Awards

A huge congratulations to Roz White and the team at White’s IGA on taking home 6 awards at the recent State Retail Excellence Awards, with  Mt Coolum IGA crowned 2021 IGA Store of the Year, Bakery, Deli and Dairy Freezer. Congratulations to IGA Peregian Beach and White’s SUPA IGA Bli Bli on their awards. 
We are lucky to have Roz as our Meet the Makers 2021 Ambassador, helping us to shine a spotlight on the event and attract great buyers.

The Power of Collaboration

This month our CEO Emma Greenhatch had the pleasure of participating in Sunshine Coast Council’s ‘Collaboration for the Future’ event, attended by 100 chamber colleagues and business groups. It was a great opportunity to talk about the evolution of clusters organisations like FAN, the role they can play in the regional economy and community, and the power of co-opetition. FAN looks forward to working more closely with the groups that attended. 

Sunshine Coast Business Awards is back!

The Sunshine Coast Business Awards are back for 2021! Nominations will open in a few months and will coincide with Small Business Month. Make sure you register to receive their newsletter and follow them on socials.

Big Heart Bamboo National Finalist

Congratulations to Becky Nary-Dart from Big Heart Bamboo who has been selected as a Finalist for @theweeklytimes Coles 2020 Farmer of the Year Awards! Becky has been selected in the top three Farm Magazine Innovative finalists, which is right at the heart of what Big Heart Bamboo is all about.

Moreton Bay Regional Council launches REDS

FAN was delighted to attend the launch of Moreton Bay Regional Council’s new Regional Economic Development Strategy 2021-2041 this month. Congratulations to the Economic Development team – REDS is a BIGGER, BOLDER, BRIGHTER blueprint for the Moreton Bay Region and we’re delighted to see such a strong focus on food & agribusiness and advanced manufacturing. We look forward to future collaborations!
