This month we started rolling out FAN’s new business model and we’re delighted to welcome our Membership Coordinators Jacki Hinchey (Moreton Bay), Tanya Arnold (Sunshine Coast) and Amy Watson (Gympie) who will closely with our members across our regions. 

FAN is and will always be industry-led and the appointment of our Membership Coordinators will enable us to better engage with our members around their needs, and in turn help us to to develop and deliver new initiatives and opportunities. It’s an exciting time in the evolution of FAN as we continue to grow and strengthen our ecosystem.

EPIC/FAN Job Taster Program
We’re pleased to announce a new member initiative developed in collaboration with FAN partner EPIC Assist.  The Job Taster program aims to enhance FAN members’ knowledge of employing people with disability and provide brief work experience opportunities in members’ businesses for people with disability. Participating FAN members will receive free disability awareness training at their workplace. They can also have a person with a disability undertake an unpaid work experience session. A dedicated Job Taster Coordinator employed by EPIC will support program participants to get the most out of this unique opportunity. Interested in learning more – complete this EOI HERE.
Brewers and Distillers National and Export Masterclasses
Producers of craft beers, ciders and spirits are invited to free workshops next Tuesday and Wednesday. Designed and delivered by FAN’s market development partners Shopability and Export Connect, the masterclasses will cover topics including market opportunity identification; on and off-premise trends; category drivers; retailer requirements; margin enhancers; promotions and marketing and much more. The masterclasses will be streamed online and held in person.

Monthly Member Meet-Ups
Our monthly member meet-ups continue to attract good turn-outs and are a great chance for members to connect and catch up. Young Farmers Connect Lunch
Monday 2 August

Growing the Agriculture Workforce: Regional industry consultations
Tuesday 3 August

Agribusinesses are invited to participate in six regional consultations across Queensland where QFF will be asking farmers and agribusinesses about industry workforce issues. The consultations will inform the Queensland Agriculture Industry Workforce Plan, which will chart a five-year response to the challenges raised by the industry. FIND OUT MORE HERE

AusIndustry and FIAL Webinar
Wednesday 11 August

In this webinar, FIAL and AusIndustry will look at trends, opportunities and support available to grow your food production business. AusIndustry’s CSIRO based Innovation Facilitator will outline some of the support available to undertake the research you may need to bring your product to market and their Growth Facilitator will share experiences and tips they’ve gained from helping food manufacturers to improve and grow their business. REGISTER HERE.

Expanding your business: IP Law and Trade Mark workshop series 2021
Starting 12 August

Back due to popular demand, the IP Law and Trade Mark workshop series supported by Sunshine Coast Council, will be held over four months commencing 12 August 2021. Recognised as a leading lawyer in the Australian intellectual property and trade mark landscape, and an internationally published authority on trade mark law in Australia, solicitor Mark Metzeling from Macpherson Kelley will facilitate the workshops and provide information and skills to implement into your business. REGISTER HERE.

Meet Me at the Bay Markets
Saturday 14 August

FAN Member Caboolture Sports Club will be hosting the unique Meet Me at the Bay Market. Free stands are open to producers and makers – size to be discussed with the organiser – first in best dressed!  This event forms part of MBRIT’s Taste of Moreton experience and features key suppliers from the region in a market stall set up with plenty of produce to try & buy. This is a free event and is a great way to connect and build relationships.

Business Planning Course
Starts August 17

Register now for the upcoming Business Planning Course and grow your small business. This short course is being delivered in collaboration with the University of the Sunshine Coast, Sunshine Coast Council, Sunshine Coast Chamber Alliance, Moreton Bay Regional Council and MBRIT. If you are a small business owner based in the Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay and Gympie regions, this free business development course is your opportunity to gain new skills and knowledge to strengthen and future-proof your business. In six weeks, you will develop a customised business plan with the option of pitching your plan to a panel of experts. First Batch Coffee –  Cafe Smart fundraiser

Kudos to Brent and the team at First Batch Coffee who are taking part in this year’s Cafe Smart fundraiser initiative to help fight homelessness.
