We hope this note finds you well and that 2021 is off to a positive start. It promises to be a big year for FAN and our members as we continue to grow our ecosystem and facilitate new connections, collaborations and opportunities. I’d like to highlight the following upcoming FAN activities:

  • Domestic Market Pathway Program – starting 1 February. Developed for our members to help them grow their regional/national distribution. Read more / Sign-up (Note a recording from the 1st session will be made available to those who sign up after 1 Feb). 
  • Meet the Makers 2021 – it’s officially ON! Monday 15 March at Sunshine Coast Airport. Exhibitors spots are filling up fast so book soon. Sign-up / Read more.
  • FAN’s Future Direction – FAN is evolving in 2021 and implementing a new business model. This will deepen our understanding of our members’ needs across our regions and enable us to enhance and expand our services and partnerships to deliver greater impact. View our recent online session / Read more.

Domestic Market Pathway Program

Launching 1st February, our new Domestic Pathway Program is designed for our members who are looking to expand their distribution into regional and national markets.  In this program you will hear practical and actionable advice from market development experts who will help you to grow your business in 2021. This introductory program is being delivered by Export Connect and Shopability and is supported by Sunshine Coast Council and RDA Sunshine Coast. BOOK HERE (Note: the sessions will be recorded so you can still participate if you can’t make the scheduled times).

Meet the Makers 2021

We’re excited to officially launch Meet the Makers 2021 – SEQ’s largest food and beverage trade event showcasing produce and products from the Sunshine Coast, Noosa, Gympie, Moreton Bay and beyond.

Small business webinar series - Moreton Bay

Business Moreton Bay Region is starting 2021 on the front foot by offering free registrations to their Small Business Webinar Series. The series will be presented by the ATO and cover a range of important tax and financial topics for small business owners and those looking to start a small business. Topics include starting a small business, cash flow for small business, running a home based business and tax support for small business. Register here.

Build a better business program Sunshine Coast

Are you a Sunshine Coast business owner or manager looking to develop your 2021 business plan?  Sunshine Coast Council is extending a highly subsidised offering of TAFE Queensland’s Build a Better Business program. An accredited business mentor will support you to develop a business plan that includes finance and marketing and a Certificate IV in Small Business Management upon successful completion. Express your interest today.

Glasshouse Agritourism Group

FAN recently attended a great session with Celebrate Glasshouse Country & Glasshouse Country Chamber of Commerce Inc. and a plethora of our members to talk about the future of agritourism in the area. We look forward to working on collaborative projects being driven by our members and the Glasshouse Chamber team. Watch this space!

New cafe opening

Congrats to the team The Wonky Loaf on the opening of their new store / cafe in Kuluin. Doors open @ 7 am so pop down and grab one of their famous handmade sourdough loaves and coffee. Read more here.

Taking the road less travelled

Here’s a great ad featuring some of our hinterland members Glasshouse Plantation, QCamel and Spirit House from Subaru Australia and Andrew Daddo which went to air nationally on Channel 7 on Friday night. A great promotion of local business.

GABs Hottest 100

Huge congrats to our local brewers on a big showing in this year’s GABS Hottest 100 Beers of 2020. A special shout out to Your Mates Brewing Co. picking up five spots, Heads of Noosa Brewing Co. and 10 Toes Brewery Surely the region is now a contender for #CraftBeverageCapital of Oz!

Bumper numbers at The Ginger Factory

Congrats to the very hard working team at The Ginger Factory on recording one of their busiest ever seasons. After the tumultuous year suffered by many tourism operators, The Ginger Factory had 40,000 visitors in December alone!  Watch the story here. The team are rolling out a series of instore Meet the Maker sessions – and will themselves be an exhibitor at FAN’s March event.
